HOW TO CHOOSE THE CORRECT SHADE?
To choose the most suitable shade for your hair, estimate how much grey hair you have:
If you have LESS than 50% grey hair, choose a shade closest to your natural hair colour.
If you have MORE than 50% grey hair, choose a shade that is one shade darker than your natural colour. For example: If you want a 5.00 Light Brown colour, choose shade 4.00 Brown
To create a warm or cool highlight or to neutralise an unwanted hue, use a chromatic shade
EXPERT TIP – STRAND TEST
The key to perfect colour depends on your hair’s structure as this affects how quickly the pigments of the colouring emulsion adhere. Fine and light-coloured hair, or hair that has been sensitised by highlights or ammonia and peroxide colour treatments absorb pigments more easily, while thick hair and brown shades absorb colour less quickly. Therefore, we advise you to carry out a strand test on your hair to ensure you have chosen the right shade.
Choose one of the lightest, or greyest strands to carry out this test, apply the colour to the strand and leave it for the required time. Rinse completely, dry and compare the strand to the remainder of your hair under bright natural light.
In the example below: 100% white hair. After 20 minutes under heat, Color One 8.0 then application of the Pigment Ash Blonde Cream Conditioner
Wash your hair with a Mulato Pigment or alkaline shampoo and towel dry.
Using the Mulato pH neutral Colour Highlighting Shampoo before the Color One, promotes a more intense and long-lasting colour effect. Color One contains no peroxide and the pH neutral pre-shampoo helps the colour to adhere to the surface of the hair.
Protect your clothes from stains and cover your shoulders with a towel. Wear gloves
Application to natural or already coloured hair: on washed and towel dried hair, directly with the nozzle or a colourist’s brush, start applying the colour from the top of the head, sectioning the hair into thin strands. Cover the roots generously and thoroughly. Pull the colour to the lengths if necessary (please note damaged and oxidised hair require different times). Wrap the hair in plastic film. Observe the development time by shade:
Remove the plastic film from the hair, massage the scalp to remove the colour. Add a little water to emulsify. Rinse until the water runs clear. Apply the Color One® Mulato post-colour shampoo (only one application is enough). The shampoo will remove any remaining colour residue, seal the cuticle and fix the colour to the hair, it will also protect colour and prolong shine. Finish with the Patrice Mulato mask for coloured hair if necessary.
DON’T FORGET TO ADD TO YOUR CART:

Hair previously coloured with an oxidative hair colour (or other types) often have dull appearance with a dark overlay. Before applying Color One® natural colour, you may want to exfoliate the hair with Patrice Mulato Argila White Clay Hair Scrub to remove colouring excess which prevents the colour from being radiant.
What are the main differences between Color One® and a traditional hair colour?
Color One® is not an oxidative hair colouring. Formulated with over 90% of natural ingredients, it does not contain harsh chemicals such as resorcinol or (PPD) diamines. It does not modify the hair fibre as the pigments are simply applied onto the surface of the fibre.
Should I mix the natural hair colour with an oxidant?
No, Color One® is ready to use and requires no mixing with an oxidiser. This hair colour will not lighten the hair.
My hair is 100% grey. Will the hair colour take?
Yes, but we recommend using a tone darker than the desired hair colour. Example: If you want a 5.00 Light Brown colour, choose shade 4.00 Brown when your hair has more than 50% grey hair.
If I’m currently using an oxidative hair colour, can I apply a Color One® hair colour?
Yes, you can apply Color One®, that’s not a problem. Similarly, it is compatible with tone-on-tone or vegetal hair colouring and with all available hairdressing techniques (perm, straightening...).
How is it possible that without an oxidant, PPD or resorcinol, grey hair is coloured?
Color One NATURAL COLOR PROCESS® technology guarantees excellent coverage of grey hair with the combination of natural ingredients and innovative dyes that optimise the colouring.
How long does the Color One® colouring last?
Color One® lasting results are similar to oxidative hair colours, i.e. between 6 and 7 weeks (depending on the number of shampoos).
Can Color One® be compared to vegetal hair colours?
No, vegetal hair colours are mostly based on henna and are generally not compatible with other types of hair colours, which is not the case with Color One®. Furthermore, Color One® requires a shorter time to develop and offers a much wider choice of shades than vegetable hair colouring.
